The Big Apple (or close to it)

We have changed timezones and climate zones and are now in the Bronx with Becky, Roy, Leighton, and Riley. It is hot, hot, hot which is quite a change from our time in the snow at Mt St Helen's. I definitely didn't bring enough short sleeved shirts.

Of course we love being here. In the seven months since our last visit, Leighton (3 1/2)and Riley (8 mos) have both grown so much. Riley loves her big brother and laughs at his silliness. He is sweet with her until she wants to have the same toy he is playing with, but that is the nature of siblings.

There is a wonderful playground across the street from Leighton's pre-school. We spent over an hour there after meeting him at the end of the morning (he is there 8:30-11:00, M-Th). The waterplay sprinkler was on, and he and his friends had a wonderful time filling buckets and pouring them out.



This afternoon Papa (Jerry) drove us to Home Depot to buy pots, soil, plants, and seeds so we could do some gardening. Leighton gave Mommy a purple petunia for Mother's Day, so we bought some orange and pink flowering plants to tuck in with it. Leighton loved helping put the soil into the pot and add the water. We both got quite dirty in the process, but that's part of the fun. Tomorrow we will tackle a few carrot, bean, and zucchini seeds. His big question has been "what do the seeds look like?" We had green beans for dinner, so he got a sneak peak!

We are planning to go to a Mets game on Thursday with my brother Nick. The Yankees aren't in town this week, so we will take a long subway ride to and from Citi Field in Queens.
